Family Programming
When a young man is struggling, the effects ripple through the entire family. Parents feel overwhelmed, siblings feel forgotten, and connection begins to fray. At Align, we know this story well—and we’ve built our family programming to help rewrite it.
You don’t have to stand on the sidelines while your son does the work. We invite you into the process—because your growth matters, too.

A Family-Centered Approach to Healing
True, lasting change happens when the whole family is involved. Many of the young men who come to Align have experienced tension, distance, or breakdowns in trust at home. As your son begins to heal, we support your family in doing the same—by offering structure, communication tools, and opportunities for real connection.
What Family Programming Includes
Weekly Family Therapy
Each family is matched with a dedicated therapist for regular Zoom sessions. These conversations offer a steady space to navigate tough topics, improve communication, and repair strained relationships—together.
Parent Webinars & Education
We host regular webinars on topics such as adolescent development, family dynamics, and preparing for transition. Some are informational; others are interactive and designed to equip parents with practical tools.
Dedicated Parent Liaison
Lisa Stark, our Parent Liaison and an Align alumni parent, is available to guide, support, and advocate for families through every phase of the journey.
Intensive Family Weekends
Held throughout your son’s time with us, these in-person weekends include:
- Experiential family therapy and group work
- Adventure-based activities designed to build trust
- Skill-building workshops focused on communication, boundaries, and emotional regulation
- Dedicated support for siblings when appropriate
- Time together that’s structured, meaningful, and often deeply healing
Each weekend is tailored to where your family is in the healing process.
Parent Support Groups
Led by experienced Align staff and alumni parents, these groups meet multiple times per week via Zoom and include:
- Al-Anon–inspired meetings
- Big Book studies
- Process groups for parents navigating treatment and early recovery
A safe, confidential space to share, listen, and feel less alone

What Makes Our Family Programming Different?
- High-consistency support—from day one through discharge
- Clinical integration—your family therapist collaborates closely with your son’s treatment team
- Structured opportunities to re-engage as a family—with expert guidance
- Parent-led peer support—because no one understands like someone who’s lived it
Many parents tell us that Align’s family programming changed their lives—not just their child’s.
You Are Not Alone
We know what this feels like. The fear, the anger, the guilt, the grief. We also know that connection is the antidote to shame, and that families—when given the tools—can become the most powerful resource in a young person’s life.
At Align, we’ll meet you where you are. We’ll walk with you as you grow. And we’ll celebrate with you as your family becomes stronger than it’s ever been.
We’re proud to partner with Other Parents Like Me (OPLM), an online parent support community created by alumni families from our program. OPLM offers live support groups, expert content, and a private network of parents who understand what you're going through—because they’ve been there too.
Through OPLM, you’ll have access to:
Peer-led support groups facilitated by trained alumni parents
Educational content from mental health professionals
A safe, welcoming space to connect with others across the country
Many of our parents say OPLM is a lifeline—and that it continues to support them well beyond their son’s time in treatment.
